Fruit juice in Russia

The juice market in Russia has declined by 6% in volume over the period January to September 2013. Manufacturers explain this decline in the growth of private labels.

The undisputed leaders of the Russian market of fruit juice, PepsiCo and Coca-Cola, who once bought the largest local manufacturers, Wimm-Bill-Dann and Lebedyansky for the first, Nidan and Multon for the second, continue to lose ground.

At the end of 2012, their combined market share fell to 64%, while in 2010 it was 82%. Manufacturers accounted for the decline in the growth of private labels.

From PepsiCo has declined over the past year from 45.4% to 40.3%. From Coca-Cola on the juice market is itself increased from 26.7% to 24%.

Local producers and Sady Pridony and Sunfruit-Trade, as well as the French Lactalis, have meanwhile seen their market share increase in 2013.

According to the Russian Union of Juice Producers, the share of private labels on the Russian market of fruit juice reached 7% at the end of 2012, winning 2-3 percentage points.

At the end of 2012, the average consumption of fruit juices in Russia was 20 liters per person. However, consumption was not evenly distributed among the various regions of the country.
